We are happy to announce the following two satellite events of the EARLI SIG22 meeting which take place immediately before and after the meeting. Please note that the registration for the satellite events is independent of a registration for the EARLI SIG22 meeting.
Neurowissenschaften im Unterricht (Symposium on neuroscience in school; in German)
Zeit und Ort: Donnerstag, 3. Juni 2010, 15.15 - 17.00 Uhr, ETH Zentrum HG E 41
Kurzbeschreibung: Als Präludium der Tagung "Educational Neuroscience: Is it a field?" beleuchtet diese (deutschsprachige) Veranstaltung die Bedeutung von Neurowissenschaften für den Unterricht. Es werden unter anderem zwei Umsetzungsbeispiele (Demopraktikum Hirnsektion und Ausstellungsparcours im BrainBus) vorgestellt, welche im Rahmen der Lehrpersonenausbildung Sek II von Studierenden ausgearbeitet wurden.
Zielpublikum: Lehrpersonen der Sekundarstufe II und evt. I, deutschsprachige Konferenzteilnehmerinnen und -teilnehmer
Teilnahmegebühr: Die Veranstaltung ist kostenlos

Educational neuroscience of language learning and dyslexia: Where are we and where can we go?

Description: This symposium is organized by Urs Maurer and Silvia Brem of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (University of Zurich) and comprises talks by the following international experts in this field:
- Narly Golestani (University of Geneva. Switzerland)
- Fumiko Hoeft (Stanford University School of Medicine, USA)
- Martin Kronbichler (University of Salzburg, Austria)
- Hansjakob Schneider (Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz, Switzerland)
- Jason D. Zevin (Weill Cornell Medical College New York, USA)
Target audience: Scientists, teachers and policy-makers interested in educational neuroscience of language learning and dyslexia
